Hi Mark, does myscript transcribe the audio to Word? I’ve managed to export the notes to pdf but would really like to know if I can have it in MS word, would be good if all recordings in audio can be transcribed and saved to word as well.

    • Mark Parker says:

      Hi Yvonne
MyScript is purely hand writing to text. Whilst products like Dragon Naturally Speaking provide audio to text the product doesn’t handle more than 1 or 2 voices – so in a classroom or meeting environment it isn’t an option.

Voice to text is still the holy grail…

If you want to at least convert hand written notes to text I would recommend MyScript.

        Hi Mark,

Sorry to hijack this thread but that seems to be the only way to get a message to you. It’s Shakti BTW. I got my Sky Pen yesterday and Livescribe Desktop does not let me update. I keep getting there is a problem with the internet connection when there isn’t. I uninstalled the software, downloaded a new exe file from the web, installed and got the same message. Is there somewhere an .exe file with the wifi update I could download?
That would be great. Thanks Marl

          Hi Shakti
Firstly, you can always reach me via the customer service email address on our site – support@smartpen.com.au.

Secondly, the new Sky WiFi smartpen doesn’t use Livescribe Desktop – it uses Evernote – so if you’re trying to update or register via LD then you may have corrupted the pen – what I’d suggest is for you to send a note to the above email address so we can work to solve this for you

          cheers Mark

          Hi Mark,

Maybe that helps to solve the problem. Attached I have a screen print of the site where I get stuck. The pen still wants to be registered.

          Thank you Shakti

        • Mark Parker says:

          Hi Shakti
From what you’ve described, I think you’re caught up in a minor issue whereby the new Sky pen was causing LD to launch and screw things up. I believe a fix has been released – what I’ll do is forward your email to the US team and ask them to respond – it’s all fixable so no need to stress..!

          cheers Mark

    Hi Mark,

i didn’t find a contact form, so I have to post my question here.

I also have a smartpen of Livescribe. It’s the echo.
And now, I want to create my own application for my smartpen but Livescribe
    closed the development-support 😦
I cannot find a link to download the Livescribe Desktop SDK and Livescribe Platform SDK.
Do you have these files? Could you upload these files somewhere?
I would be eternally grateful if you send me a positive answer.

    Niklas

    • Mark Parker says:

      Hi Niklas
The software developer SDK has been withdrawn as the company is not allowing third party apps to be developed anymore. I don’t have a copy of the SDK

      cheers Mark

I’d like to record the audio from online sales calls with my Echo smartpen. I typically use a headset with WebEx so that I am free to type, run a sales demo and take notes. I shy away from using the speakerphone since the audio quality seems to suffer so is there a way to record directly to the pen from other apps like WebEx directly if the pen is plugged into the USB cable?

    • Mark Parker says:

      Hi Frank
Using the Livescribe smartpen to record telephone based conversations in Australia and NZ is quite ‘legally’ complex. We will need more information about what you’re trying to do before we can help

      cheers Mark

  4. Frank G. says:

Thanks for the response Mark. I’m in the USA and have only started using the pen. Nothing online yet, but when I’ve done it face to face I ask first.

Since I don’t use a speakerphone during online sales calls typically, I want to find a way to get a quality two way call recorded (assuming the customer is ok with it). I tried to plug the pen into my Win 7 laptop and it does not appear as an audio device so no luck there.

    Thanks
    Frank

    Hi Mark,

I am a frequent reader of your blog and have seen you feature an infographic on the Flipped Classroom. I recently have had a chance to be involved in the development of one. You can find it here: http://newsroom.opencolleges.edu.au/learning-analytics-infographic/.

Let me know what you think. And if you can feature it on your blog, I’d be really ecstatic! πŸ˜€

    Thanks.

How much is a 4gb smartpen and how do I place an order?
    Penny

    • Mark Parker says:

      Hi Penny
We probably won’t have the 4GB Echo for a while so the best option would be either the 2GB Echo or the 8GB Pro Pack – details for both are on smartpen.com.au – order online

      cheers Mark

  7. Kate Lowe says:

Hi Mark, I have a Smart Pen Pulse that I used to use with a PC when at work. I now have a Mac and I work from home. Am I able to set up the pen on my Mac? If so what do I need to know? I’m not sure I still have any serial numbers or the like.

  8. Kate Lowe says:

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I’ve hit a snag. My old email address is no longer active so I’m having trouble authorising my pen for my current computer.

    I hope you can help.

    Regards

    Kate

    • Mark Parker says:

      Hi Kate
I edited your comment to remove some of the ID info – I’ll send this onto the US team and get them to help out

      cheers Mark

        Thank you.
