One of the most common questions I get from prospective users (and existing users) is whether the audio files can be converted from voice to text – this is kind of the holy grail for a lot of Livescribe users – particularly in business.
The holy grail just got a lot closer to reality as Livescribe has announced a partnership with world leading transcription services company TranscribeMe!
Using the TranscribeMe service you can now use to turn the audio from your pencasts into digital documents.TranscribeMe use a hybrid of speech recognition software and actual, human transcribers to guarantee a 98 percent accuracy rate on all transcriptions.
Here’s how it works:
WiFi Smartpen Users
- Firstly sign up for TranscribeMe. You’ll then see a new folder in your Evernote account.
- Drag any pencast or audio recording into that folder or tag a file with “TranscribeMe,” and the folks at TranscribeMe will handle the rest!
Echo Smartpen Users with an Evernote Account
- Sign up for TranscribeMe
- Email the recordings to Evernote, and then drag and drop the file into the TranscribeMe folder
Echo Smartpen Users who don’t use Evernote
- Sign up for TranscribeMe
- Upload your files directly to TranscribeMe’s website.
You’ll get a transcription back within a day or two in exchange for a small fee (see here for pricing details)
You can read about the partnership on the Livescribe Noteworthy blog – click on the image below for further details on how to use the service and pricing information.
I’ll be testing this service next week with both a single voice and multi voice audio file and I’ll post here with the results.
