Livescribe Desktop Upgrade for MAC Snow Leopard

Great news from Livescribe over the weekend for our MAC community. The Mac Livescribe Desktop v1.2 for Snow Leopard is now live!

We’ve included the release notes here.

Livescribe recommends this upgrade only for customers using Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6). This update is not recommended for customers using Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5).

New Features for MAC Snow Leopard Version

Livescribe made improvements to Livescribe Desktop to add new features, correct known issues, and improve usability:

  • Currently supports Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard only
  • Includes drag and drop installation

We’ll post a link to the documentation as soon as we have it.

Known Issues

  • New installations of MyScript® for Livescribe from Vision Objects® are not currently supported on Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard. If you already have MyScript for Livescribe installed with Livescribe Desktop for Mac 1.1 and upgrade to Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, it should run properly
  • Sometimes, the displayed size of a recording is incorrectly displayed as 0 bytes when viewed in the List View. These recordings are not 0 bytes and will play back correctly
  • Double-clicking on a page thumbnail in the Now Playing panel does not open and display the page in Single Page view

Livescribe Desktop for MAC Delayed

We received advice from Livescribe today that the planned release of the MAC version of Livescribe Desktop has been delayed until at least early March.

The following note was published on the Livescribe forum:

A note to our Mac users: Our original plan of releasing Livescribe Desktop for Mac 1.0 on Feb. 17 will be delayed due to some minor software tweaks we discovered last week.

We always want you to have a quality experience when using your Pulse smartpen and Livescribe Desktop, so we felt a few extra weeks to get it right will be worth the wait. As soon as we have a precise date (which we expect to be no later than early March), we will let you know, here and on our blog.

We’ll see what additional information we can find out and post here ASAP.

cheers

Livescribe Desktop – MAC Version Announced

Livescribe announced recently that version 1 of their Livescribe Desktop for MAC will be officially released on Feb 17 2009.

Livescribe has announced some very interesting features in the MAC version including:

  • Export and share your notes as PDF files locally from Livescribe Desktop.
  • Export audio files (in AAC format) separately from notes so you can play them back in iTunes.
  • Change the on-screen ink color of your digital notes.

Hmm, I’m assuming it won’t be long before these types of features are available in the PC version?

The new version will be available from Feb 17 (assume Feb 18 for us down here) via think link
